Dutch Mountain, Dutch Alp???

The plan: building a mountain in the polder. Worktitle: "De Nederlandse Berg" (DNB) changed to "Die Berg Komt Er". Location: The Flevopolder. Crazy idea to build a "2000 m high mountain" in the Netherlands. 'HIL(L)'arious? Do we have to take this seriously?

Apparently virtual reality?

It started as a joke, like pie in the sky. Actually, the idea is not very unique/original, because there have long been plans to transform the old Tempelhof airport in Berlin into a mountain of one km height. In The Netherlands we plan, we build, we stole land from the sea and built dikes to our territory to protect nature and ourselves. What started as a crazy idea of ​​journalist Thijs Zonneveld is starting to take shape quite seriously. Recently, the project to build a mountain in the polder was launched. Imagine. Skiing and snowboarding with a view of the bulb fields. Experts said that there are many drawbacks/snags/pitfalls for such a project. One of these is the substrate of the soil, the support, and not to mention the funding. We will be informed about the progress of the 'Dutch Mountain': the opportunities, the obstacles, the solutions, the pros and cons, the building materials, whether or not the mountain should be hollow, the financing, the flight paths at Schiphol airport, Chinese investors and the consequences for the climate.





It's a dream, a fantasy. But will it ever be realized? One of the few comparable examples so far are the artificial climbing rock "Monte Cervino" or "Matterhorn" in Outdoor Valley Bergschenhoek and the numerous ski runs like "SnowWorld". Will the natural 323 m high Vaalserberg remain the highest mountain (i.e. hill) in The Netherlands?


Nevertheless, these kind of initiatives are innovative and should not be nipped in the bud, or be ridiculed immediately like in the broadcast of KB. Even if the mountain would never be realized, the idea itself is valuable on its own. And it's not even unthinkable that it will trigger other brilliant ideas. We need to nurture creative ideas, cherish people with creative ideas and encourage others to come up with creative ideas. We must, we can and above all we have the obligation to ourselves to come up with creative initiatives, in particular in a prosperous and democratic country like the Netherlands. Our knowledge can be our strength. That's how a small country can distinguish itself. We should always aim to improve and innovate our environment and society.

    You'd have to come and flatten Scotland to get enough soil. If that's a picture of a 2000 metres high mountain on that link, then that's a bloody big sheep!

    ‎@DNB, the Scotchman will visit Holland next week and will bring a handfull of Scotch soil with him. Where should he drop it (GPS)? Will u be there to celebrate the symbolic birth of the mountain? Suggestion for a gift from the 'DNB likers' to DNB: a height scale of 2 km height.

    @DNB: Onze Schot brengt volgende week een bezoek aan Nederland en zal een handvol Schotse berggrond meenemen. Waar precies moet hij het achterlaten in de polder (GPS coordinaten)? Bent u erbij aanwezig om de symbolische geboorte van de berg te vieren? Zou willen voorstellen om DNB een geschenk aan te bieden namens de DNB vrienden: een hoogte schaal van 2 km hoogte :-)

    Dit soort initiatieven zijn innovatief en mogen beslist niet in de kiem worden gesmoord of onmiddellijk belachelijk gemaakt zoals in de uitzending van KB door nota bene de heren politici. Zelfs als de berg nooit zou worden gerealiseerd is het idee op zich al heel waardevol en misschien dat er toch iets moois uit voort kan komen. We moeten creatieve ideeën koesteren. Dat mogen we, dat kunnen we en bovenal dat zijn we aan onszelf verplicht in een welvarend en democratisch land als Nederland. Onze kennis en creatief denkvermogen is juist onze kracht. Dat is waar een klein land groot in kan zijn. Altijd blijven proberen om boven het 'maaiveld' uit te komen, maar dat wordt natuurlijk weer afgedaan als on-Nederlands.

    Supertekst. Slotzin alleen weglaten en zeker niet mee eindigen aub. Je intentie is evenwel uitstekend. De berg is een vanzelfsprekendheid! Geef aan dat andere geen aandacht aub. De Berg Komt er! Ook over kathedralen deed men in het verleden meerdere generaties!

    Please consider two things:
    - the _tremendous_ amount of soil/building material (cca. 2 billion truck-load...) to gather, transport and also raise.
    - the geological/geophysical consequences: this amount of material (cca. 50 billion tons) would push down the whole region! Not just centimeters, gentlemen, but several meters - in Flevoland... You are talking about a damn huge artificial island surrounded by flooded area that is now known as Flevoland.

    Hallo Arie, Leuk dat je informeert naar mijn Visie als Avatar. Ik kan echter alleen maar reageren als Leon die het Avatar Pad doorlopen heeft en mijn gezichtpunt weergeven. Bij Avatar leer je nl om meer vanuit een creërend vermogen dingen te verwezenlijken en dat is voor iedereen anders. Een project als DNB kan de wereld heel veel bieden. Het project inspireert mensen door ze te laten zien dat iets wat niet mogelijk lijkt toch echt mogelijk is. Als we instaat zijn om vanuit het collectief bewustzijn te geloven in deze berg dan is een verwezenlijking ervan slecht een paar stappen verwijderd. Daar kan geen enkel haalbaarheidsonderzoek tegen op!
    Werkelijk alles, wat ons bij de verwezenlijking van deze ‘primary’ in de weg staat kunnen we definiëren als ‘secondary’. Secondaries lijden tot ontmoedigingen en uiteindelijk opgeven. Dit laatste noemen vaak falen, maar het is en blijft niets anders dan opgeven. Buiten een aantal secondaries uit het fysieke universum, is alles wat ons in de wegstaat, in het nu, te hanteren. Het enige wat daar voor nodig is, is een collectief sterke wil, die bereidt is alles wat nodig is om het doel te bereiken volledig te ervaren. Alle personen die zich bezig houden met de hogere doelen, door Thijs Zonneveld benoemd en (zelfs) niet benoemd in een aantal interviews, zullen zich op hun beurt weer enorm geïnspireerd voelen. Ze halen niet alleen hun doelen, ze worden naar boven bijgesteld.
    Kortom, ik geloof sterk dat wij DNB kunnen zien als een hoger doel. Thijs Zonneveld is een moedig man!

    Wordt er ook al een bergexpeditie op touw gezet? Wie zal als eerste de top gaan bedwingen en de diebergiservlag op de top planten? En wat denken jullie van bungeejumpen in de 2 km holle berg of van een Elfpassentocht? We kunnen van alles bedenken maar eerst moet diebergernogkomen. Met vereende krachten HIJKOMTER!!!
